Industry News and Review of the Upcoming and Highly Anticipated Game Release of Rockstar’s GTA 5.
Rockstar recently released a mouth-watering teaser trailer for GTA 5 which, while giving away a host of secrets about what the game has in store, leaves the main question of the GTA 5 release date still very much a mystery.
Game retailer Zavvi has given the release date of *23 November 2012* and is already giving gamers the chance to pre-order their copy.
The trend continues with Game, who are giving customer’s a similar opportunity to pre-order the game, whilst not committing to a release date,
If history is anything to go by, GTA 4 was releasd 6 months before its planned release date, hinting at a May or June release.
However, due to other big titles that are expected to also be relased around this time, including May Payne, not to mention that Rockstar have traditionally gone with an Autumn release date for major titles, an early release looks unlikely.
Before I go any further, here’ a look at the *GTA 5 trailer* to give you something to whet your appetite while you wait:
Some of the things that really stand out are:
- The game looks set to once again be set in San Andreas. The opening scene on the beachfront and the unmistakably Vinewood sign both give a hint of things to come.
- There’s definite plane and helicopter action set to return. We hope to a return of theApache in Vice City, or anything really that can satisfy out desire for relentless carnage and mayhem!
- The environment looks to be just as open and free-form as early games and there is reason to believe the map is set to exceed the landscape of previous episodes.
- Multiplayer options looks to the on the cards as there are a number of central characters that look to be set to form a storyline that includes a number of characters.
- Houses are back, hookers make a welcome return to play and the graphically aspects of the game appear far greater than anything we’ve seen before.
- The soundtrack is always an essential component to any successful game and from what we are seeing here fans won’t be disappointed
- And yes, it looks like Tommi Vercetti is back in town! (what more can you ask for?
If this game even lives up to half of my expectations I’m going to be one very satisfied customer.
So to get back to the GTA 5 relase date, some analysts are predicting that it could be as soon as six months from now.
Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter went so far as to say, “I would say they’re within six months of release. If they’re ready in June 2012, they’ll do it“.
Plus, he also went on to predict sales of between $20-25 million for the game in its first year, depending on industry reviews and a summer launch.
Another analyst, Tom Hopkins, hinted at a November 2012 GTA 5 release and Divnichmaintains that its only a year away.
It’s true that right now we’ve got little more than rumours and speculation, but one thing’s for sure when this game hits the stores, it’s going to be massive.
